The Johnston and Jeff Black Oil Sunflower Seeds are selected and harvested for maximum oil content, which means they are high in energy for a variety of wild birds. Black oil sunflower seeds must be harvested when they are fully matured to ensure there isn’t any empty husks, but can’t be done late because that produces a high acid content. Johnston & Jeff triple screen and grade their Black Oil Sunflower Seeds to ensure they are of the highest quality and add vegetable oil to give them a high shine which makes them easier for the birds to spot and provides extra nutrition.
